Broker's Comments

This wooden Essex Smack was built around 1903 in Paglesham, Essex, originally with a steam engine!

The previous owners took it from the River Crouch to Holland in 1970 and it has remaind there since. The current owners bought her in 1995 when it was not more than a wreck stuck in the frozen over harbour of Edam. During the winer months the boat was taken ashore for a rebuild and the owners spent a good ten years working on her. She was launched back into the water in 2005., where the owners sailed her around Holland.

She is also anofficial historic nautic monument, which in Holland means, owners get a discount when in paying harbours and get a lot of attention and invites for nautical events!

The owner has decided to sell the boat as the maintenance requirements are too much for them to uphold. You can see from the photos she needs some attention to the woodwork.
